The Wave Sliders journal

ENTRY #050

Written By: Jesse Ivers

Intro By: Jack Ventura

INTRO:

Welcome back, amigos, to the FARO Wave Sliders Journal.

A growing collection of conversations with surfers, photographers, and the people who help shape surfing culture.

This series is less about surfing itself, and more about the lives built around it.

I hope you enjoy this Q&A series as much as we do.

Meet Jesse Ivers

You probably don't know Jesse Ivers — Like most sales reps in the surf industry, he's one of the quiet workhorses helping brands grow and surf shops thrive behind the scenes.

I first met Jesse when he was leaving his previous sales rep job to start a rep company of his own. As a fellow entrepreneur, I was eager to connect with him. He was experienced, talented, hungry, and professional, but more importantly, he had a genuine appreciation for the action sports industry and the people who keep it moving forward.

Over the last few years, Jesse and his team have played a huge role in helping establish FARO throughout the Pacific Northwest, and I couldn't be more grateful for their support.

Thanks for taking part in the series, Jesse.

Enjoy the read, FARO fam.

Who are you?

Share a few sentences explaining who you see yourself as these days...

--

I run a sales agency in the PNW called NW Boardwear.

I’ve always been passionate about boardsports and the outdoors, and this has allowed me to build something around what I love while making a living doing it.

When I started the agency in October of 2025, one of my goals was to work with some of my favorite brands, not only from a product standpoint but the people behind the brand as well.

A big part of what I pride myself on is building a strong regional team, helping support up and coming riders and giving them the tools to succeed the right way.

What was your first job?

First jobs reveal a lot about who we were.

--

My first job in the industry was actually a couple at once. I worked once a week at a ski resort to earn a season pass, and at the same time worked for a snowboard brand to get hooked up with gear.

What have you learned through surfing that translates to everyday life?

What you have learned from surfing and how those lessons help you through daily livin'...

Patience is everything. There have been so many times I’ve paddled out when I should’ve just waited a few hours or days and it would’ve been way better or safer.

That’s carried over into life too. Slowing down, being thoughtful, and not making impulsive decisions has led to way better outcomes.

What is something you'd like to accomplish in the next 10 years?

Share a goal for the next decade, and how surfing might have influenced these aspirations.

It would be really cool to have surfed in every continent

What Jesse Is Stoked On Lately...

Someone in the surf community you are stoked on:

I’m really stoked on the athletes who are starting and running their own brands. They honestly know how to do it right and for the most part their styles are sick.

Guys like Dane Reynolds with Former and Dion Agius with Ritual Vision. Those are the brands I want to support, built by people who’ve actually lived it and pushed the industry forward, not just people behind a desk who’ve never even touched a board.

A quote you like?

" As a general rule, it’s better to just be living for the moment, because if you plan ahead, you might just not make it that far. "

- Craig Kelly

A place you want to visit that you have not been to yet?

I really want to visit Indonesia, not only for the waves but also for the people and the culture
